October News

Let me introduce you to our very own Mahakavi Bharatiar from Framingham. He was one among several such Mahakavis in a short dance recital at the temple as part of Navarathri. My colleage from Staples, Bhanu Jayaraman had organized this dance recital.

This lovely charcoal drawing of Anirudh was made by a Chinese artist for a mere $10 in New York. The place where we off the boat from Statue of Liberty is called Battery Park. That place is full of small shops selling a variety of things. Many artists also come there. This artist was literally a magician. It took him only about 10 min to do this. Needless to say, all this while Anirudh was sitting on a chair in front of him. We were all astounded with the quality of the drawing.

Last weekend, Meenu and I were busy closing the pool and generally cleaning up our backyard. All the while, out very own "theru koravan" Vikram was picking stones and other things from the ground. Good career move, Vikram!!!!

The kids are having a great time with their "thathi". How much of their forceful "love" can this patti endure is up to question:-)

Apple picking on October.2 was great fun. All of us went along with our friends, Raj(tennis Raj), Subha and family, Lakshmi Venkat and family.
More than anyone else, it was Aditya who got into the act with full vigour. He would just not stop picking more apples and carrying the heavy bag all with him all the time.

Navarathri Golu

Meenu and Anirudh have made a nice Golu this yr. The new additions are the Queen's guards dolls, Big Ben and the London phone booth. Another nice touch is provided by the Rajasthani lamp shade hanging from the ceiling.

Anirudh and I put together the steps on Sunday evening and then hung the lamp shade. Meenu and Anirudh gave the finishing touches and also put on the lights.
One surprising fact is that Aditya and Vikram have been very good and have not disturbed the Golu in any way.

The golu viewed in dim light is a nice sight to behold.
